KPLU School of Jazz "Rising Stars" at the Bellevue Jazz Festival
KPLU School of Jazz and the Bellevue Jazz Festival have teamed up to extend the learning of the region's top jazz students. The Rising Stars ensembles will rehearse prior to the culminating event of the program on Sunday, June 3 - a performance at downtown Bellevue's newest music venue Bake's Place.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner reservations with the show starting at 7 p.m. The concert also coincides with the official 2012 KPLU School of Jazz CD release party.

Booker T. Jones is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer and arranger, and four-time GRAMMY Award winner, but he is best known as the front-man of the band Booker T. and the MGs. Jones was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award in 2007. In 2011, Jones released The Road from Memphis and in 2012 the album won Best Pop Instrumental Album at the 54th GRAMMY Awards. ... [ more ]
